My family and I were on a bus from Toms River, N.J., to New York City for a day of sightseeing. About 15 miles from the city, we received a call a plane had hit the first tower. At first no one realized the severity until the second one hit. The bus came to a stop and a New Jersey state trooper boarded the bus, informing the driver he had to turn around. We flew back to Texas the following Sunday. My son, who was 10 at the time, could not wait to get back home.
